Vineyard
An article from the Petaluma Courier dated November 23, 1881 entitled "A Promising Vineyard" extols the property for "growing grapes to perfection" with the "whole world for a market". In July 1886, the Sonoma Democrat stated the area contained "some of the finest vineyards in Sonoma County". Today, viticulture has not only continued in the region of the Sonoma Coast Appellation but flourishes. Several prominent and successful wineries either grow or purchase grapes here, with particular emphasis on the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah varietals. Wineries that have purchased grapes from our vineyard include Bouchaine, La Crema, Mumm Napa Estates, Simi, Meiomi, Elizabeth Spencer and Hart's Desire, to name just a few. Several of the wines from our vineyard have been critically acclaimed including reviews from the Sonoma County Harvest Fair and The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
Our vineyard enjoys a microclimate that is exceptionally well suited for these varietals. We experience a cooling influence not only from the Pacific, but San Pablo Bay and the Petaluma River as well. Our topography is a gentle sloping vineyard that provides excellent drainage for the soil. Our water is garnered from rainwater collection and runoff. The combination of these aspects of our site, along with selection of high quality clones and prudent vineyard practices, produce exceptional fruit. Our goal here is to not push the vineyard on yield, but rather concentrate on establishing a well balanced vineyard that produces wine expressive of its distinct flavor nuances and varietals character.
